Monica Hand

Monica is a culture and people writer with over six years of experience. She has written for Narratively, Texas Highways, Melted Magazine, The Wild Honey Pie, and Austin Fit Magazine. She has also done marketing/brand work with ZilkerBark!, Austin Woman, and was the Director of Content for Austin Fit. She spent two years teaching English in Japan and as the Head Editor of CONNECT Magazine.


She’s now back stateside writing and editing academic and culture articles. 

About Me

I'm from a small town in East Texas where I found beauty in the well-told story. Eventually, I made my way to Austin, Texas where I continued my love of stories through my degree at The University of Texas at Austin in Rhetoric & Writing with a minor in Communications and a Creative Writing Certificate. Some of my work not included in this website are my various client-based ghost writing, digital art, video editing and brand marketing projects. 

I recently moved back to the states after living and teaching in Japan. While there, I was also the Head Editor of an English magazine about life and culture in Japan.
